The motor controller is the brain of the car. It controls the power going to the traction motor in response to the throttle pedal. Current controllers on the market barely meet our SCWARE factors. They are safe and reliable but in our estimation need to be much better to produce the promise of a really great PHEV. Therefore, this is where we are spending R&D dollars to produce better energy management. The controller technology used in sophisticated diesel electric trains is a closely guarded secret and Genovation believes that until there is an open industry collaboration focused on controller design there will never be a competitive market for all the various peripherals. This is similar to the evolution of the PCI bus in personal computers that led to the plug and play environment.
